AI, IoT, and Their Exciting Impact on Testing!

This interactive presentation focuses on the exciting evolution of BOTH the IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence)! It’s obvious how rapidly technology has evolved in the past 30 years. This presentation is focused on the relatively recent paradigm shift and evolvement of the Internet of Things and AI Deep Learning and their impact on Quality Assurance and the testing landscape including roles, processes, methodologies, software testing solutions, and strategies. Just as our “processes” of long-distance travel changed when we went from traveling primarily by train and ship to airplane so will our processes (continue to) change as AI and IoT evolve. How will we test? Where, or does, automation fit in? How will data analytics and machine learning play a role? Will our test planning evolve? What new skills or roles will be required? And how must we change now in order to be ready for what lies ahead?

The audience will learn:

  • Precise definitions of IoT and AI Deep Learning and what has caused their evolution.
  • The key components of an IoT “smart” device.
  • How testing – its roles, processes and strategies – must change now to be ready for tomorrow.
  • Testing “in the wild” and why it’s important.
  • Defects in AI Systems – Is it truly a defect?
  • The roles of test planning and test automation.

Session Takeaways:

  • A clear understanding of the technical definition and testing challenges of IoT and AI Deep Learning.
  • How the IoT and AI will evolve even further.
  • Testing concepts, strategies and skills we must develop now!
  • The new role of the “tester”.
